Škoda Fabia S2000 with new specification Evo 2Apr 26, 2011 Both Škoda Fabia S2000 rally cars were completely rebuilt to a new specification and now they meet the latest homologous technical development of vehicle and safety requirements of FIA. Considering that the vehicles finished the 2010 season of German championship, we decided to completely renovated them, in addition to the new facelift and safety pack. The rally cars were dismantled, the car body was cleaned with high pressure cleaning. Consequently, the wheel arches were extended 20 mm and the car body was prepared for painting. There were some changes with the reconstruction of the vehicle (for example, the battery from the back to the middle of the vehicle, also some parts of the wiring system were moved). Because of the higher quality cooling of single components and its aerodynamics, there had to be a homologous change on some parts (new exhausts on the lid, bumpers, fenders, ramp lights, etc.). The rally cars were fitted with lighter, more powerful brakes, and with a new axle that changes the vehicle kinematics. It wasn't necessary to change the new specification of the engine (including its additional parts) because we already had it during the 2010 season. Due to safety reasons, the new FIA rules valid since 1.1.2011 were issued, and because of that, the vehicles received new safety components. All the doors were completely adjusted. Safety paddings were installed in the door, as well as the inner door covers, and the frames were adjusted. The doors were partially filled with plastic windows, whereas the front windows were complemented with a system for side-window opening. There is also a new system for reading, saving, and analysis of data received from the vehicle. This season we are planning to spend more time in the IRC championship, more than in the domestic races, as we have done until now. Nevertheless, both vehicles have to be introduced before the start of IRC competition and also, for the pleasure of our fans, we will drive (within the test) both S2000 Fabias in the German Sachsen Rally, which takes place during the days 13.-14.05.2011. Additionally, it would be in new design of both vehicles and in the classic structure of our German crews: Matthias Kahle/Peter Göble and Mark Wallenwein/Stefan Kopczyk. |
